SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford quarterback Dustin Taliaferro has been named the SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week for September 15, as announced by the league office today.

Taliaferro, who is majoring in business, has a 3.71 GPA.

The sophomore from Roswell, Ga., went 14-for-23 passing Saturday in Samford's 27-0 victory against Jacksonville. Despite only playing two and a half quarters, Taliaferro threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns, including a 51-yard strike. 

Also nominated for this week's award were Chattanooga golf player Stephan Jaeger and Wofford men's soccer player Nick Schuermann.
