CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team is ranked 24th in this week's CollegeSoccerNews.com National Top 30. The Cougars are the only program in the Southern Conference and the state of South Carolina ranked in this week's poll.
Charleston pushed their record to 5-0 this past weekend with victories over North Florida (2-0) and Florida Gulf Coast (2-1, OT) to win the championship of the 2009 Furman Diadora/Spinx Invitational.
In Sunday's win over Florida Gulf Coast, freshman Francis Twohig scored the game-winner nine minutes into overtime. The goal was the first of his collegiate career. For the tournament, Matt Morris was tabbed as the offensive MVP, while Branko Gavric was named the defensive MVP.
The Cougars will look to stay unbeaten on Friday, Sept. 18, when they travel to Lehigh. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
