JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Appalachian State University's men's soccer team finished its exhibition matches the way they started, with a tie. The Mountaineers tied at East Tennessee State 1-1 Friday night.

Arie Muniz got ASU on the board with five minutes left in the first half when he got a shot past ETSU keeper Scott Rosman from outside the 18.

The Buc's tied the match when Sean Hoek scored on a shot from 25 yards out off an assist from Theo Yang.

The Mountaineers outshot ETSU 14-13 and held an 9-6 advantage in corner kicks. Muniz and freshman Luis Calzadilla had a team-high three shots. Drake Branson got the start in goal for

ASU and made two saves while Collin Taylor made one save. James Holt made three saves for ETSU while Rosman made one.

Appalachian opens the regular season on Tuesday Sept. 2 when they host Emory and Henry at the Appalachian Soccer Stadium.
