BOONE, N.C. ? Appalachian State University football has unveiled an alternate third jersey to be worn on Oct. 10 when the Mountaineers square off with North Carolina Central at Kidd Brewer Stadium as a part of homecoming weekend.

In conjunction with ASU’s 2009 homecoming theme “Solid Gold,” the Apps will sport gold jerseys for the matchup versus the Eagles. The jerseys, produced by Nike, feature the same design as ASU’s traditional home black and away white tops, but with gold as the primary color, black lettering, numerals, shoulder and side piping and white trim.

Following the homecoming showdown, the game-worn jerseys will be auctioned at GoASU.com.

Last year, Appalachian featured a third uniform for the first time in program history when the Mountaineers donned an alternate uniform for the home opener versus Jacksonville, a Nike-produced “throwback” to the Apps’ 1989 duds, which were worn in recognition of head coach Jerry Moore’s 20th season at ASU.

A limited number of single-game tickets go on sale Wednesday, August 5, at which time all reserved seats are expected to sell out very quickly. To ensure a seat for all of the exciting action at The Rock in 2009, including the Oct. 10 homecoming contest, fans are urged to purchase season or mini-season tickets.
