Greenville, S.C. -- Furman women’s golfer Stefanie Kenoyer (73-75=148) posted a 36-hole score of four-over par at the par-72 Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill., on Monday to advance through sectional qualifying to earn a spot in the 2009 United States Women’s Open July 9-12 at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.

A rising junior at Furman, Kenoyer was one of only two amateurs at the Wilmette, Ill., sectional to secure one of the 23 spots in the U.S. Open field.  She shot an opening round 73 on Monday before a three-over 75 in round two helped the Lighthouse Point, Fla., native secure a share of 14th place.

Kenoyer, the 2008 and 2009 Southern Conference individual medalist, led the conference this season with a 74.70 stroke average.  She has guided Furman to SoCon titles and NCAA Regional appearances in each of her first two seasons as a Paladin while also helping Furman to the NCAA Championship in 2008.
