MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Furman in a matchup of the two top teams in the Southern Conference on Thursday afternoon at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point.
With the loss, Charleston falls to 19-4 on the year, 7-1 in the Southern Conference and has an 11-match winning streak snapped. Furman improves to 13-7, 8-0 in the SoCon with the win.
Furman got off to a quick start in doubles action, capturing two of the three matches played to earn a team point and then didn't look back in singles, taking five of the six matches played to earn the win.
The lone winner on the day for the Cougars was Keely Mulligan, who was a straight set (6-3, 6-1) winner at number five singles over Lauren Tomory.
