SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? College of Charleston’s Mickael Trintignac has been named Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches from March 30-April 5, the conference office announced Wednesday. Trintignac went 3-0 in both singles and doubles play last week as the Cougars went 2-1 in league competition.  CofC knocked off Davidson (5-2) and Samford (5-2) after starting the week with a 5-2 setback against Furman.  The Player of the Week award is voted on by the league’s sports information directors.

Trintignac picked up wins at No. 3 singles over Furman’s Daniel Knause (7-6, 6-4) and Davidson’s Scott Myers (6-1, 6-3).  He downed Samford’s Brian Dushock at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.  Trintignac has now won five straight singles matches and is 9-1 in his last 10 outings with a mark of 7-1 in league play. 

Trintignac teamed with Mickael Boyer at No. 3 doubles and went 3-0 last week. They posted an 8-5 win over Furman’s Jordan Walters and Andrei Chvetsov before scoring an 8-1 win over Davidson’s David Warren and Brandon Boyd.  Trintignac and Boyer topped Samford’s Richard Walsh and Carson Kadi, 8-2.

Also nominated for this week’s award was Appalachian State’s Philip Kloc, Chattanooga’s Peter Sauska, The Citadel’s Yufo Sutantio, Elon’s Chase Helpingstine, Furman’s Bo Ladyman, Georgia Southern’s Gregory Bekkers, UNC Greensboro’s Orcun Seyrek, Samford’s Carson Kadi and Wofford’s Alan Donald.
