SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga middle-distance runner Anneli Uys has been named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all sporting events from April 22-28, the conference office announced Wednesday.

 

Uys, who sports a 3.787 GPA, won both the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs at the SoCon Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend. She broke the school record in the 800 with a time of 2:08.99 and earned NCAA Regional berths in both events. The award is the second of the outdoor season for the junior.

 

Also earning consideration this week were Elon baseball player Dallas Tarleton, Georgia Southern women’s outdoor track and field athlete Melanie Trumbo, Appalachian State women’s outdoor track and field athlete Lily Tallent and Davidson women’s tennis player Lora Dushanova.
