Today is day three of the Southern Conference’s 10-day preview leading up to the induction ceremony on May 4 of the inaugural 10 inductees in the 2009 SoCon Hall of Fame class. The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. (EDT) at the Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg, S.C., where the conference office is located.
Today’s highlighted inductee is West Virginia football player Sam Huff.

The 1955 All-American helped West Virginia post a combined mark of 31-7 during his four years with the Mountaineers, including a berth in the Sugar Bowl in 1954. He also was named an Academic All-American in his senior season of 1955. Huff played 13 years in the NFL with the New York Giants and Washington Redskins where he was named All-Pro eight times. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1982.
