Women's Golfers Compete at Low Country Intercollegiate

Keith Leads Bulldogs in Second Place at Low Country Intercollegiate

 

Hilton Head, S.C. ? Freshman golfer Alanna-Jean Keith leads the Bulldogs tied for second overall after round one of the Low Country Intercollegiate held at Hilton Head’s Moss Creek Plantation on Saturday. The Bulldogs finished the day in seventh place out of 12 teams.

 

With her best performance of the season, Keith shot a 40 and 37 for a day one total of 77, only four strokes behind Western Carolina’s Blaire Minter who holds down first place with a 73. She shares the spot with Wofford’s Alex Rankin and Sarah Herbert. Keith’s performance marked the first time this season that a Bulldog finished a round in the top five.

 

The Citadel totaled 338 as sophomore Christine Clark finished tied for 15th place with 82, freshman Bree Baumgartner tied for 36th with 87, senior Kasey Owens in 53rd with 92 and senior Brittany Nagel tied for 55th with 96 to round out the Bulldog scoring.

 

Western Carolina, co-host of the tournament with Wofford, is currently in first place with a team total of 316, followed by Longwood with 317 and Wofford with 323.

Women’s Golf in Third Place At Low Country Intercollegiate

 

HILTON HEAD, S.C. ? The Wofford women’s golf team sits in third place after the first round of the Low Country Intercollegiate, held at Moss Creek in Hilton Head, S.C. and co-hosted by Wofford and Western Carolina.

 

The team shot a 323 to claim the third spot out of 12 teams, and currently sits ahead of Southern Conference opponents The Citadel and Appalachian State.

 

Individually, Wofford was led by sophomore Alex Rankin and junior Sarah Herbert, who are currently tied for third place along with The Citadel’s Alanna-Jean Keith after shooting a first round 77 on the par-72 course.

 

Rankin and Herbert were followed by senior Erin Wells, who carded an 82 in the first round. Freshman Sarah Hurt and sophomore Meredith Few rounded out the Terrier lineup with scores of 87 and 88, respectively.

 

Play will continue Sunday with a shotgun start beginning at 9:30 a.m.
