The Citadel 4, University of Queens Charlotte 2

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ? The Citadel tennis team picked up their first road win of the season against the University of Queens Charlotte, 4-2, on Thursday, March 26 at the Ovens Athletic Facility in Charlotte, N.C. Due to inclement weather conditions, one doubles match was completed while all sets of singles finished.

Alberto Diaz remains on a winning streak as he defeated the Royals’ Edwin Ramirez, 6-1, 6-2, while Michael Kociecki defeated Queens’ Jonathan O’Rourke in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-1, 10-8. Martin King dominated his match against the Royals’ Christopher Kennedy, 6-1, 6-2, and Frank Larkin defeated Queens’ Patricio Calderon, 6-0, 6-1. Yufo Sutantio suffered a tough loss in a tiebreaker to the Royals’ Christiaan Lee-Daigle, 3-6, 7-6(5) and Derek Dickey fell, 6-1, 6-4, to Queens’ James McKinzie.

Sutantio and Kociecki took the lone doubles match defeating the Royals’ O’Rourke and Lee-Daigle, 8-4. The Bulldogs improve to 8-6 on the season while Queens falls, 5-8.
