BOONE, N.C. - Lindsay Whitlock (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth to score Megan Rembielak as Appalachian State University softball beat North Carolina A&T 2-1 in game one in Greensboro.

Morgan Price (Kannapolis, N.C./NW Carabbus) broke a scoreless tie in the seventh with her third home run of the season, but Ryanne Hill tied the game for the Aggies in the bottom half with her third homer of the year.

After both teams failed to score in the eighth, Rembielak started the ninth on second base and moved to third on a bunt single by Katie Boyd (Walkertown, N.C./North Forsyth). After a Boyd stolen base, Whitlock lofted a fly ball to right field to send home Rembielak.

Sarah Rappe (Charlotte, N.C./Butler) had two hits for the Mountaineers.

Ashley Stubbs (Balm, Fla./Newsome) shut the door on the Aggies in the ninth to earn the win. She pitched all nine innings allowing just one hit while striking out a career-high nine batters.

The Aggies scored nine runs in the first four innings and were able to beat the Mountaineers in game two 9-4. After NC A&T scored two runs in the first, ASU scored a run in the second on an RBI double by Amanda Brooks (Buford, Ga./Young Harris JC).

The Aggies increased the lead to 3-1 in the bottom half of the inning but ASU tied the score with two runs in the third on an error by tthe Aggies but NC A&T came back with four more runs in the bottom half to take back control of the game.

Rappe added two more hits while Brooks had her first career two-hit game.

Appalachian returns home on Saturday when they host Elon in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
