SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Samford’s Cavan Corcaron has been named the Southern Conference’s Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while teammate Patrick Wells has been named Field Athlete of the Week, for all meets from March 12-18, the conference office announced Thursday. The athlete of the week voting is done by the league’s outdoor track and field head coaches.

Corcaron finished second in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.14 at the Southern Invitational hosted by Birmingham Southern.  It was Corcaron’s first outdoor hurdle race of the 2009 season.

Wells picked up his fourth win in five meets this season, competing in the pole vault.  He posted a mark of 15’ 5” to take first place at the Southern Invitational.
