Furman's Morgan Breaks School Record in Mile Run

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Furman track star Patrick Morgan set a new school record in the mile, running a 4:04.45 at the Alex Wilson Invitational on the campus of Notre Dame this weekend.

Morgan broke the Paladin record that had previously stood for 30 years earlier this season when he clocked a 4:05.90 at the University of Kentucky Invitational. At Notre Dame, Morgan's time was good for ninth best among a field of top competitors. The winner, Craig Miller of the University of Wisconsin, ran a sub-four minute mile as he crossed the finish line in 3:59.09.

Morgan just missed the NCAA provisional qualifying time for the mile (4:04.00).

Morgan has had a stellar senior indoor track season, having placed in the top 10 in the mile in every meet this season. Morgan also won the 3000m at the UNC Classic and the Southern Conference Championships.
