Hwy. 27/I-124 Detour Instructions
Situation:
Interstate 124 both directions in Hamilton County - Between I-24 EB LNS. RT. & LT. / BEGIN US-27 NORTH/SOUTH THRU CHATTANOOGA (Mile Marker: 0) and SR-29 (HWY-27) FRONT / END I-124 (Mile Marker: 1.9), bridge repair work will result in lane closures every day. This work is expected to be completed by 9/30/2009.
CURRENT ACTIVITIES:
Beginning Monday, February 23 northbound and southbound from 7PM-6AM, The contractor will have nightly lane closures in order to install traffic control measures for the repair of fifteen (15) bridges on I-124. One lane will be maintained in both directions at all times. Once all traffic control measures have been installed, one lane of traffic will remain closed in each direct for construction. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction daily from 6AM-7PM.
Also, Monday, February 23, the contractor will close the bridge on the entrance ramp from Main Street to southbound I-124 (going toward I-24) for a period of 45 days for installation of a new concrete bridge deck. Detours will be posted.

Exit onto N/B Hyw. 153 exit # 4 N/B to the Amnicola Hwy N319 Exit # 6-; Exit S/B. At the top of the ramp turn Left onto Amnicola Hwy. S/B. Travel to the 3rd Street Exit to Mable Street S/B to 3rd Street UTC Campus..
W/B I-24 from I-59 Nashville/ Birmingham:
Staying in the right travel lanes E/B I-24, proceed past N/B Hwy 27/I-124 exit # 178; stay in the far right lane for the exit to Broad Street N/B exit #178 Lookout Mtn/Broad Street ; exit merge onto Broad Street N/B staying in the right lane for 20th Street; right to E/B 20th Street; travel in the left lane to Market Street; turn left to N/B Market Street stay in the right lane to 4th Street; Turn Right to E/B 4th Street. to UTC Campus.
S/B Hwy 27/I-124 from I-40 Dayton:
Exit to Signal Mountain Road Exit; at bottom of the ramp turn left S/B Signal Mountain Road; stay in the right lane to Dayton Blvd; right turn on Dayton Blvd. E/B stay in the left lane to the Cherokee Tunnel. Travel through the tunnel stay in left lane Cherokee Blvd. to Market Street; at Market Street the road changes to Frazier Ave. continue in the left lane crossing the intersections of Market Street, Woodland Ave. Forest Ave. and Tremont Street.
Stay in the left lane to the Veterans Bridge there will be S/B merge to the Veterans Bridge; merge to the left lane to turn left E/B 4th Street to the UTC Campus.
