SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Citadel track athlete Megan Jenkins and Samford pole vaulter Mary Angela Barron have been named Southern Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for all meets Feb. 19-25, the league office announced Thursday. The awards were voted on by the league indoor track and field head coaches.

 

Jenkins finished second in the mile run at the Tiger Invitational in Clemson, S.C., this past weekend with a time of 5:19.97. The senior’s performance was the second best in school history, and was just a half second off the school record. 

 

Barron finished second in the pole vault at the aforementioned Tiger Invitational with a season-best leap of 10-11?. 

 

Also nominated for this week’s track award was Samford’s Morgan Tyler.
