Senior finished third among 215 golfers
SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? College of Charleston senior Steffi Kirchmayr has been named the Southern Conference women’s golfer of the week for all spring competition through February 24.
The two-time reigning Southern Conference Golfer of the Year, Kirchmayr fired a final round 70 to move into a tie for third place at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C. Her three-round total of 220 (+4) was just two strokes off the lead in a field of 215 golfers. Buoyed by the performance of the senior from Pocking, Germany, the Cougars finished sixth out of 43 teams ? 21 of which were ranked in the top 100 nationally.
The golfer of the week is selected by a vote of the league’s women’s golf sports information directors.
Other top performers during the week were Samford’s Heather Arnold, Western Carolina’s Blaire Minter, The Citadel’s Alanna-Jean Keith and Wofford’s Erin Wells.
