Davidson 31, Belmont Abbey 15; Anderson 20, Davidson 14
ANDERSON, S.C. - The Davidson wrestling team split a pair of matches at the Anderson Tri-Meet Friday night, picking up a 31-15 victory over Belmont Abbey and falling 20-14 to host Anderson.
The Wildcats recorded three pins in the opening match against Belmont, starting at 149 when freshman David DeCamp dropped his opponent 5:38 into the match. Classmate Tyler Mullen needed 5:18 to notch the pin at 165, and senior Sam O’Hair picked up the 11th pin of his career at 184, ending the match 2:24 into the first period.
After falling at 125, Davidson raddled off nine-straight points, beginning with Alex Radsky’s 13-3 major decision at 133, followed by brother Vitaly Radsky, who won an 8-2 decision at 141, on their way to the 31-15 overall team win.
In the night’s final match against Anderson, the ?Cats came from behind to take a 5-3 team lead courtesy of Alex Radsky’s 16-0 shut-out technical fall victory. Then at 141, Vitaly Radsky kept his perfect record on the meet, notching his team-leading 34th points of the season.
Anderson then took the next four matches before O’Hair broke the slide with a 5-4 decision at 184 to pull Davidson within five in the team scoring at 16-11.
But the Trojans were victorious at 197 to pull ahead for good, with Charlie Wolff closing the night out strong for Davidson with a 5-2 decision.
The ?Cats move their record to 5-11 overall, and will head home on Sunday night to take on The Citadel in Belk Arena at 7 p.m.
For the squad’s four seniors - O’Hair, Kevin Cook, Scott Matthews and Chris Panfili - it will be the final home match for the ?Cats. The four will be honored prior to the start of the contest for their contributions to the Davidson wrestling program during their careers.

No. 2 Iowa State 37, Chattanooga 6
AMES, Iowa - The Chattanooga wresting team dropped a 37-6 decision to No. 2 Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, tonight. The Mocs were hoping to provide head coach Chris Bono with a happy homecoming, but had a tough time scoring on the mat tonight.
Freshman Demetrius Johnson has a strong battle with 10th-ranked Tyler Johnson at 125 before giving up a decision 7-5. It was the closest match of the evening for the Mocs. UTC actually led after two matches 6-3 when sophomore Josh Statum took a forfeit at 133.
Junior Cody Cleveland took on No. 3 Nick Gallick at 141. Cleveland, ranked No. 9 in this week’s polls, had a 1-1 mark in two previous meetings with Gallick, including a 7-6 loss earlier this year. Tonight it was all Gallick, who earned a major decision 12-0.
The Mocs were never able to recover, dropping the rest of their matches on the evening. With the loss, UTC falls to 11-9 on the year. However, their 4-0 mark in Southern Conference action gives them no less than a share of the regular season title. ISU improves to 13-2 on the year.
Bono was a four-year letter winner for Iowa State from 1994-97. He won a national title at 150 for the Cyclones as a junior in 1996. He was also the 1997 Big 12 Most Outstanding Wrestler and a three-time All-American at ISU.
Up next for the Mocs is a visit to No. 21 Northern Iowa (7-6) tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. (E.S.T.). Chattanooga returns home for its final home match of the season on Monday, Feb. 23, at 6:00 p.m. in MacLellan Gym. Northern Iowa 18, Chattanooga 12
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Chattanooga wrestling team dropped an 18-12 match at No. 21 Northern Iowa today. The Mocs scored four wins on the afternoon, but could not catch the Panthers in non-conference action. Chattanooga falls to 11-10 on the season while UNI improves to 8-6 overall.
UTC opened the match with freshman Demetrius Johnson earning a 9-6 decision over Cruse Aarhus at 125. Johnson used two takedowns in the second period to stretch a 2-1 lead into a 6-4 advantage. Three more points on an escape and a takedown in the third gave Johnson his seventh win of the year.
Sophomore Josh Statum scored a 6-2 win in the next match against Steven Fitzgerald. He allowed just two escapes to even his record at 7-7 on the year. Northern Iowa equaled the score with wins in the next two classes. No. 9 Cody Cleveland was upset at 141 by th4 Panthers’ Trent Washington, 6-4. Kelly Felix lost, 5-2, to Trevor Kittleson at 149.
Junior Joey Knox put Chattanooga back on top 9-6 win a win at 157. He defeated Northern Iowa’s Tyson Reiner 2-1. The uneventful match came down to riding time with Knox holding a 1:58 advantage to take the extra point and the win.
UNI took the lead and sealed the match with wins in the next four weight classes. Chattanooga’s last individual win came in the heavyweight class. Freshman Cody Sliger pulled off a sudden victory in overtime against Dustin Bauman. After using riding time to force overtime, Sliger scored a takedown to break the 1-1 tie and get the win.
Chattanooga returns home for its final regular season match of the year against VMI on Monday, Feb. 23. Match time for Senior Night is set for 6:00 p.m. (E.S.T.) in MacLellan Gym.

CHAPEL HILL, NC ? The UNC Greensboro wrestling team fell to No. 4 Nebraska, 43-(-1), on Saturday evening in Chapel Hill, NC. It was the highest ranked opponent the Spartans have faced in school history.
The match started at 125 pounds where Mitchell Johnson dropped a narrow 4-2 decision to Andy Pokorny. Matt Vacanti extended the team lead for the Huskers to 9-(-1) after he pinned Casey Boyle at the 1:18 mark in the first period. The Spartans were deducted a team point for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Curtis Salazar then picked up a forfeit at 141 pounds for Nebraska.
Ben Wilmore was up next for the Spartans and he dropped a 7-3 decision to Robert Sanders at 149 pounds.
Jordan Burroughs, ranked No. 3 nationally at 157 pounds, scored a 25-9 technical fall over Andrew Saunders to push the team score to 22-(-1).
Victor Hojilla battled with Alex Ward at 165 pounds before falling 7-3.
Andy Johnson scored the second pin of the evening for the Huskers after defeating Brett Miller by fall at 2:49 of the first period.
Sophomore Mikal McKee almost pulled the upset at 184 pounds before dropping a tight 5-4 decision to No. 11 Vince Jacobs.
No. 2 Craig Brester was able to pin Jeremy Cannon in 52 seconds at 197 pounds for the third and final pin of the evening for Nebraska. No. 19 Tucker Lane made the final team score 43-(-1) after a 9-4 decision over Joe Sheffield at 285 pounds.
UNCG will return to league action next weekend as they wrap up the SoCon portion of their schedule against The Citadel. The Spartans will travel to Charleston, SC, to face the Bulldogs on Saturday, Feb. 21 for a 2 pm match.
