SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Lee Stephens, a senior guard for the Furman women's basketball team, has been honored as the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for December 9.
The accounting and Spanish double-major from Cincinnati, Ohio, has a 3.38 GPA.
In Furman's 56-52 win at Samford, Stephens scored a game-high 22 points, 14 of which came in the second half. She also added two steals and an assist in 39 minutes of action.
With her 19 points in Furman's 69-56 loss at Chattanooga, Stephens became just the 18th player in school history to score 1,000 points in her career. She also posted four assists and a steal in 40 minutes of play.
During the two games, Stephens shot 53.4 percent from the field and was 5-of-8 from behind the three-point line. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds.
Other nominees included Georgia Southern women's basketball player Jessica Geiger, Samford women's basketball player Megan Wilderotter and Western Carolina men's basketball player Jake Robinson.
