Six Student-Athletes Honored for Excellence in Competition
SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The Southern Conference announced its November athletes of the month today, highlighting excellence among student-athletes during the month. The athletes of the month are nominated by each member institution and selected by the conference office.
FOOTBALL
Offense
Terrell Hudgins, Elon, Sr., WR
Hudgins totaled 591 yards and three touchdowns on 41 receptions last month, including at least eight catches and 127 yards in each game. The senior led Elon to its first FCS playoff berth in school history while being named a finalist for the 2009 Walter Payton Award. Hudgins set 10 new NCAA records over the course of the season, including establishing a new FCS record with 123 receptions in a season during the playoff game at Richmond.

Defense
Mark LeGree, Appalachian State, Jr., DB
LeGree intercepted four passes in four games during the month of November, bringing his season interception total to a SoCon-leading seven. The junior defensive back intercepted two passes in a de facto SoCon championship game at Elon on Nov. 14, helping the Mountaineers clinch their fifth consecutive league championship. LeGree also squelched an S.C. State scoring opportunity with an interception in last week's 20-13 first-round playoff win.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
Noah Dahlman, Wofford, Jr., F
Dahlman led the Terriers and conference with 18.0 points per game in the month. He also finished as Wofford’s top rebounder in the opening month by pulling down 6.6 boards per outing. The junior led team in scoring in four of seven games, including 31 points against Southern on Nov. 27. Dahlman recorded three games of 20 or more points and scored in double-figures in all seven games.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Shanara Hollinquest, Chattanooga, Sr., F
Hollinquest scored in double figures in all seven games during November and had four double-doubles to bring her career total to 19. She had double-doubles against SEC foes No. 16 Georgia and Kentucky, and on four occasions, Hollinquest scored 20 or more points. The team’s leading scorer in each game, she moved from 13th to 11th on the UTC all-time scoring charts with 1,279 career points. Hollinquest currently ranks first in the SoCon in scoring (20.1 ppg), second in field goal percentage (.578) and fourth in rebounding (8.6).

VOLLEYBALL
Sheriden Stangohr, Samford, Sr., MB
A First-Team All-SoCon selection as well as a member of the All-Tournament team, Stangohr finished the month with a .315 hitting percentage while averaging 3.26 kills per sets. The senior notched a month-high in kills and hitting against Western Carolina in the season home finale with 18 kills and a .469 percentage. She also posted a .364 hitting percentage in the previous game against Appalachian State and grabbed seven block assists and 11 kills against UNC Greensboro to start the month. She racked up 23 total blocks in five matches in the month of November and was responsible for 78.5 points.

WRESTLING
Jake Young, Chattanooga, Fr., 174-lbs.
Young, who wrestles in the 174-pound weight class, opened his collegiate campaign with a 13-2 record, including a tournament title at the Hokie Open in his first event with the Mocs on Nov. 8. The Ooltewah, Tenn., native followed that performance with a 5-0 mark at the Indiana Duals, including a win over Indiana’s 17th-ranked Trevor Perry. The freshman’s only two losses this season were a one-point (7-6) defeat against Virginia Tech’s Anthony Trongone and a 3-1 decision to No. 1 ranked Mike Miller of Central Michigan.
