CofC's Morris Named All-Region

CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston senior Matt Morris was awarded a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's All-South Region Third Team.

Morris adds this honor to the long list of accolades he's already received this year, including first-team all-conference and all-tournament team selections. The forward led the Cougars with seven goals and six assists for a team-high 20 points in 2009.

College of Charleston finished its season with an 11-10 record and was one of four teams to qualify for the Southern Conference Championships in Spartanburg, S.C. Charleston fell to eventual SoCon champion Wofford, 2-0, in the semifinals of the tournament.

The three-time co-captain finished his collegiate career eighth in school history with 58 points and tied for seventh in goals (23). His 1.15 points per game rank him fourth in CofC history.

Morris is joined on the All-Region Third Team by fellow conference players Warren Creavalle of Furman, Paulo Bonfirm of Wofford and Arie Muniz of Appalachian State. A total of 11 SoCon players were included in the three all-region teams.
