SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Ashlen Dewart, a freshman forward at Appalachian State posted the third double-double of her career last week and has been selected the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the week for all games December 15-21.  

The Spartanburg, S.C., native averaged 23 points and 10 rebounds in the Mountaineers' two games last week. She also added six assists, six blocks and a steal.

In Appalachian State's 92-87 come-from-behind win against East Tennessee State, Dewart led all scorers with a career-high 30 points. She also pulled down a game-best 14 rebounds. It was the third double-double of her career and also her sixth game scoring in double figures. Her 30 points marked the most points scored by an Appalachian State player since Maria Grimes put up 33 against Georgia Southern in 2007.

Dewart was part of a 15-3 run by the Mountaineers at the end of the game that helped them take the lead and defeat the Buccaneers. She scored nine points during the run, including seven straight.

Against Furman, Dewart led all scorers with 16 points. She also grabbed six rebounds, but the Mountaineers fell 73-56.

Dewart and Appalachian State travel to Bowling Green on Wednesday to take on the Falcons.

Other top performers included Chattanooga's Shanara Hollinquest, College of Charleston's Brooke Kotcella, Elon's Ali Ford, Georgia Southern's J'Lisia Ogburn, UNC Greensboro's Lakiah Hyson and Wofford's Mahagony Williams.
