SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Wofford College men's soccer head coach Ralph Polson has been named the NSCAA/MONDO Men's Division I South Region Coach of the Year. Polson is one of eight Division I finalists for National Coach of the Year honors, which will be announced in January.
This season the Terriers set school NCAA Division I records for wins in a season (12), Southern Conference wins in a season and had the first winning record since 1994. Wofford won the Southern Conference regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
Polson is in his second season as head coach at Wofford and has posted an 18-16-3 in those two years. Prior to Wofford, he served as associate head coach at the College of Charleston for eight seasons and was head coach at Presbyterian College for 17 seasons. Overall he has a 214-130-29 career record. Polson was also named Southern Conference Coach of the Year for the 2009 season.
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America serves as the recognized leader in naming All-America soccer players. The NSCAA selects All-America teams at every level of play. Through its annual sponsorship of the All-America teams, NSCAA provides coaches the opportunity to help their players receive richly deserved recognition while helping promote the growth of the sport.
