Chattanooga's Penland Selected Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Kori Penland, a sophomore guard for the Chattanooga women's basketball team, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for December 16.

The Chickamauga, Ga., native is majoring in education and has a 3.87 GPA.

Penland scored a season-high 14 points in the Lady Mocs' win against Wofford, just one point shy of her career high. She went 3-of-6 from the floor and connected on two of her three shots from behind the arc. She was also a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe, which was a career-best.

Penland averaged seven points and grabbed three rebounds in Chattanooga's two victories last week.

Other nominees included UNC Greensboro women's basketball player Monique Floyd and Western Carolina men's basketball player Jake Robinson.
