SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Chattanooga senior forward Shanara Hollinquest posted her fourth double-double of the season and has been honored as the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the week for all games November 24-30.
The Sylacauga, Ala., native scored 26 points and collected 12 rebounds, both season highs, in Chattanooga's 76-61 win against Kennesaw State in the DoubleTree Classic. The double-double was the nineteenth of her career. Hollinquest shot 11-of-15 from the field and grabbed five offensive boards.
In the Lady Mocs' 64-59 loss against Villanova in the DoubleTree Classic, Hollinquest nearly posted another double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds. In the two-day tournament she averaged 25.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. For her efforts, she was named to the all-tournament team.
In the conference opener at Samford, Hollinquest scored 17 points to move into 11th place on Chattanooga's all-time scoring list, but the Lady Mocs fell to the Bulldogs 74-52.
Hollinquest currently leads the league in scoring, averaging 20.1 per game. She also averages a conference-leading four offensive rebounds per game.
Chattanooga continues conference play Saturday when it hosts Furman.
Other top performers included Appalachian State's Ashlen Dewart, Davidson's Sophia Aleksandravicius, Georgia Southern's Carolyn Whitney, Samford's Emily London, Western Carolina's Kaila'Shea Menendez and Wofford's Mahagony Williams.
