The Citadel 88, Maryland-Eastern Shore 62

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Joe Wolfinger's 17 points led five players in double figures as The Citadel cruised past Maryland Eastern Shore, 88-62. It marks the highest scoring output for the Bulldogs since Jan. 1, 2009 when they defeated Georgia Southern 84-75. Cameron Wells scored 14 points and dished out eight assists, moving within three points of J'Mel Everhart for 23rd on the all-time scoring list.

Three-point marksman Zach Urbanus knocked down three 3-pointers en route to a 14 point performance, moving into sole possession of fifth place among Bulldog 3-point shooters. Backcourt mate Austin Dahn found his rhythm with a 4-of-7 performance, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range, scoring 11 points as he takes over eighth place from Jamie Jenkins. With the victory the Bulldogs improve to 3-2 and win two of three games in the Hispanic College Fund Challenge.

Mike Groselle rounded out double-digit scorers for The Citadel, coming off the bench to score 14 points and grab four caroms on 4-4 shooting from the floor. He knocked down 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. In the front court, Wolfinger grabbed eight rebounds as the two teams tied with 32 boards.

"We had an excellent day at the center spot," head coach Ed Conroy added. "When you combine Groselle and Wolfinger they logged all the minutes from the free-throw line. It is nice when you plans work out and Mike had an exceptional practice and tournament here today. It was also great to see Austin (Dahn) knock down the three pointers today. He has been playing the best basketball this year and worked on many phases of his game.

Neal Pitt led Maryland Eastern Shore (0-5) with 17 points. The tandem of James Cotton and Kevin White added 10 points, while Lyvann Obame Obame finished with 10 boards.

The Bulldogs finished the game by hitting on 31-of-54 shots (57.4%), dominating bench play with a 24-15 edge. They established a JQH Arena record with 13 3-pointers. UMES was limited to 20-of-53 (37.7%) in the game. The Citadel also finished with an advantage in assists (22-10).

The Citadel was hitting on all cylinders in the first half offensively, converting 15-of-23 shots (65.2%) and shattering a previous best that was established against Charleston Southern (50%). More impressive was the Bulldogs hit 9-for-13 (69.2%) from beyond the arc that provided a 42-30 lead.

Wolfinger was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field, scoring 15, and all points came from beyond the 3-point line. He was a dominating presence in the post with six rebounds, all defensive. With a pair of three-point buckets Dahn moved into eighth place on the Bulldogs all-time list, passing Jamie Jenkins. He also dished out three assists.

Pitt provided the bulk of scoring for the Hawks with 12 points along with three boards. He helped give Maryland Eastern Shore a 14-6 advantage in the paint.

The Citadel returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 24 when they meet eighth ranked West Virginia in Charlestown, W.V. at 7:00 p.m.

The 'Cats led 49-45 late in the contest when Penn State used a 10-4 run to take a 55-52 advantage on a Brooks 3-pointer. The Nittany Lions led by four when Kuhlman hit a pull-up jumper with 48 seconds left. After a timeout, Davidson got the stop it needed to set up the last possession.

Davidson struggled offensively at the beginning of the game, missing its first five shots and committing six turnovers as Penn State started the game on a 20-4 run.

The 'Cats made a run at the end of the half to trim the margin to nine points at the break. With Davidson trailing 29-13, Nik Cochran's 3-pointer from the corner sparked a 9-1 spurt. Kuhlman hit a jumper in transition and Archambault dropped in a pair of free throws and a putback to cap the rally.

Richmond
75, Chattanooga 49

RICHMOND, Va. - A slow start doomed the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's basketball team as Richmond (3-1) claimed a 75-49 victory in the Robins Center Sunday evening.  A five-and-a-half minute scoring drought to start the game put Chattanooga (2-1) in a hole from which it could not recover.

Richmond opened the contest with a 14-0 run as the Mocs did not score their first basket until the 14:30 mark, a layup by DeAntre Jefferson.  The Mocs closed to 21-10 on a Jasper Williams three-pointer at 10:18, but that's as close as the Mocs would get as the Spiders took a 40-24 lead into the break.

The Spiders opened the second half with a 9-2 run to extend their lead to 23 points, 49-26 on a David Gonzalvez slam dunk at 17:24.  The Mocs scored the next five points on baskets by Ridge McKeither and William's second three-pointer, but they could sustain a consistent run to get back in the game.

McKeither led the Mocs with 17 points and 10 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season.  Jefferson added 10 points, six rebounds and four blocks off the bench as the Mocs recorded eight blocks in all on the evening.

It was Kevin Anderson's night for the Spiders as the junior guard passed the 1,000-point mark for his career while scoring 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds on the night.  Francis-Cedric Martel chipped in 10 points.  Dan Geriot only scored two points, but he led the Spiders with 10 boards.

Richmond out-rebounded the Mocs 44-33 on the night with 19 coming on the offensive end resulting in 20 second-chance points to just six for UTC on six offensive boards.  The Spiders committed just 10 turnovers compared to 23 for the Mocs scoring 26 points on the Mocs miscues.

Chattanooga stays on the road traveling on to Columbia, Mo., for a Tuesday night matchup with the Missouri Tigers.  Game time scheduled for 8 p.m. (EST) and the game will be broadcast on FSN Midwest.

Bradley 56, Wofford 54

PEORIA, Ill. - The Wofford men's basketball team rallied late, but was defeated 56-54 by Bradley at Carver Arena on Sunday night. After leading by two at the half, Wofford fell behind by 13 before pulling to within one with under a minute to play but were unable to regain the lead.

Wofford is 2-2 overall, while Bradley is 2-1. The Terriers were led by Junior Salters with 15 points and Noah Dahlman with eleven points and six rebounds. The Braves were led by Taylor Brown with 16 points and Chris Roberts with 13 points and nine rebounds. Wofford was only 33.3% from the floor on the night.

"We were up two at the half and in pretty good shape," said head coach Mike Young. "We had not played real well in the first half but were right there against a pretty good basketball team. Bradley's shots were comfortable in the second half and we did not have the shots contested that we needed to. Our match-up zone was effective, but they got a couple down. I thought we were back on our heels a little bit down 13, but battled back and got some shots down finally. If that is our biggest concern offensively, no worries, we are going to be just fine. We just did not do it tonight. We let this one get away from us, and our guys know that."

The Terriers had an early 5-2 lead, but a 6-0 run by the Braves gave them an 8-5 lead at 14:17 in the first half. Neither team was able to generate much offense over the next seven minutes with the score 14-12 in favor of Wofford. Bradley them went on another 6-0 run to take an 18-14 lead with 4:29 on the clock. With Bradley holding a four-point lead, Jason Dawson and Cameron Rundles hit three pointers to give the Terriers a 22-20 lead at the half.

Early in the second half, the game was tied at 24 each. Bradley then went on an 11-0 run to take a 35-24 lead at the 13:33 mark in the second half. Jamar Diggs ended the run with a three-pointer, but it was matched at the other end by Andrew Warren to keep the lead at 38-27 with 12:09 on the clock.

After building a 13-point lead, Junior Salters hit a basket and a free throw to cut it back to ten points. Noah Dahlman added a bucket to cut it to 42-34 at 9:32, but Bradley hit the next two shots to extend the lead back to twelve. Wofford used two three pointers from Junior Salters and two free throws from Corey Godzinski to cut the lead to 48-44 with 4:13 left in the game. After a steal by Jamar Diggs, he hit two free throws to cut the lead to 48-46 with 3:45 on the clock.

Junior Salters hit a three and made it a one point game at 50-49 at 3:13. Noah Dahlman put back an offensive rebound with 56 seconds on the clock to make it a 54-53 game. Bradley missed a shot and Wofford came up with the defensive rebound, but a turnover by the Terriers ended with a dunk by Bradley's Andrew Warren with 4.2 seconds left on the clock and a three point lead. With 3.2 on the clock, Bradley fouled Jamar Diggs before he could get a shot off. He hit the first and missed the second, but the Braves got the rebound.

Wofford shot 33.3% from the floor and 25.0% from three, both season lows. The Terriers were 86.7% from the line. The Braves shot 41.7% from the floor and 12.5% from behind the arc. Bradley was 66.7% from the free throw line. Bradley had a 40 to 33 lead on rebounds and each team had twelve turnovers. Wofford has had the lead at halftime in all four games this season and both losses were by a combined five points.

The Terriers will continue the four-game road trip as part of the HoopTV Las Vegas Invitational with a visit to Illinois on Tuesday night that will air on ESPNU. On Friday and Saturday, the Terries will play Southern and Seattle in Las Vegas. Wofford will then play two more road games before hosting Appalachian State at Benjamin Johnson Arena on December 7.
