Wofford's Hood Selected Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Wilson Hood, a junior forward for the Wofford men's soccer team, has been tabbed the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for November 18, the league office announced Wednesday. 

The Fletcher, N.C., native is majoring in sociology and has a 3.21 GPA.

Hood scored three goals in the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship to lead the Terriers to their first tournament title. In the semifinal match against UNC Greensboro, Hood scored twice in three minutes as the Terriers won 3-1. Hood also recorded a goal in the championship match against Elon, which Wofford won 2-1. For his efforts, Hood earned tournament MVP honors.

Hood leads Wofford in goals scored this season with seven. He has also added two assists for a total of 16 points on the season.

Other nominees included Appalachian State football player Orry Frye, Georgia Southern women's basketball player Jessica Geiger, Samford football player Dustin Taliaferro and Chattanooga football player Steven Smigelsky.
