Samford's Hill Selected Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford forward Savannah Hill averaged 19 points in Samford's two victories this weekend and has been honored as the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the Week for all games from November 13-16.

Against Jacksonville State the Elora, Tenn., native shot 7-of-14 from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 from behind the arc, to lead the Bulldogs with 22 points. She also added a team-high nine rebounds along with three assists and two steals. Samford won 59-46.

In the Bulldogs' come-from-behind win at Evansville, Hill shot 6-of-10 from the field and was once again perfect from behind the arc, going 2-for-2. She posted 16 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Samford trailed by 17 points with less than 10 minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs were able to come back and win 69-66.

Hill and the Bulldogs next travel to Lake Charles, La., Saturday to face McNeese State

Other top performers in the opening week of play were Appalachian State's Sam Ramirez, College of Charleston's Tonia Gerty, Elon's Kelsey Evans, Georgia Southern's J'Lisia Ogburn, UNC Greensboro's Monique Floyd and Wofford's Mahagony Williams.
