SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Wofford's Wilson Hood tallied two goals in less than three minutes in the first half, and the No. 1 seed Terriers defeated No. 4 seed UNC Greensboro 3-1 in the second semifinal of the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship. The Terriers will face No. 3 Elon in Sunday's championship.
Hood put the Terriers on the board in the ninth minute with a shot from 10 yards out. Kentrel Owens's shot was deflected, but Hood was able to gain control and send it in.
Two minutes and 45 seconds later Hood struck again, this time with a header off a cross from Branson Hyatt.
UNC Greensboro pulled within one goal less than six minutes into the second half. Matt Strine sent a shot past Peyton Ford from 10 yards out to make the score 2-1 with an assist from Cruz Oronos.
The Terriers had eight shots in the first half, while the Spartans had one. Both teams recorded four shots in the second half.
Wofford's final score came in the 83rd minute. Hood connected with Yakov Rubinchik on a cross through the box. Rubinchick's shot sailed between Ford's outstretched arm and the crossbar into the top of the goal.
Wofford, the league's regular season champion, improved to 11-2-3 on the season while UNCG dropped to 6-10-3.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Elon's Chris Thomas scored two goals in a span of five minutes to send No. 3 seed Phoenix to Sunday's final of the Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championships. The Phoenix defeated the No. 2 seed College of Charleston, 2-0.
Thomas's first goal came in the 35th minute on an assist from Gabe Latigue. After Latigue's shot was deflected, Thomas was able to corral it and send it into the goal from 10 yards out past a diving Clark Hankins.
Less than four minutes later Thomas found the back of the net again. This time Hankins was drawn out of the box and Thomas sent a shot into the empty net.
College of Charleston had a chance to get on the board in the 84th minute when the Cougars were awarded a penalty kick, but Matt Morris's shot hit the left post.
The Phoenix had 10 shots in the first half compared to the Cougars' four. College of Charleston outshot Elon in the second half, 9-6.
Elon improved to 10-7-2 with the win while College of Charleston fell to 11-10.
