SPARTANBURG, S.C. -Wofford senior defender Nick Schuermann has been named the Soccer America Men's Player of the Week for games played Nov. 2-8. Schuermann recorded a hat trick in Wofford's 4-3 win at Furman last Tuesday which clinched the league's regular season title for the Terriers.

The honor is in addition to being named Southern Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for games played November 3-9. Schuermann was also named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week ending on November 8.

Schuermann's hat trick gives him five goals on the season. It was the ninth hat trick in school history and just the second since the Terriers became a Division I program in 1995. The Fort Mill, S.C., native anchors a defense that has given up a league-low 15 goals this season. 

The Terriers (10-2-3, 5-1-1 SoCon) will serve as host of the 2009 Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship. The top-seeded Terriers will face UNC Greensboro Friday at 7:30 p.m. Second-seeded College of Charleston will face No. 3 Elon in the opening semifinal at 5:00 p.m.
