SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Sheriden Stangohr, a senior at Samford, has been honored as the Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance in matches November 2-9, the league office announced Tuesday.
The middle blocker from Shawnee, Kan., has hit .304 for her career, giving her the highest attack percentage in school history during a four-year career. She also became the all-time block assists leader at Samford. Stangohr reached the 1,000 career kills plateau on October 21 against Chattanooga.
In Samford's 3-0 sweep of Appalachian State, Stangohr led the team with 11 kills, while hitting .364. She added two block assists, one block solo and a service ace. Against Western Carolina she led the team in attack percentage hitting .469 while tallying 18 kills. Stangohr also recorded four block assists, one block solo, two service aces and a dig against the Catamounts. The Bulldogs won the match 3-1. Stangohr committed only six errors in Samford's two matches.
The Bulldogs wrap up regular season competition Saturday with a visit to Georgia Southern.
