Paladins' Adams Named Volleyball Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Furman's Caroline Adams has been selected as the Southern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance in matches September 26-October 4, as announced by the conference office Monday. It is the second time in as many weeks she has won the award.

The freshman from Plano, Texas, posted 34 kills, nine blocks and 10 digs in the Paladins' two wins against The Citadel and College of Charleston. Furman (11-3, 4-0) is one of only two teams (Samford) that remain undefeated in conference play.

Against The Citadel, Adams hit .528 with 23 kills and three blocks, including one solo. In Furman's match versus College of Charleston Adams hit .391 with 11 kills and six blocks, of which one was solo.

Adams currently leads the team with 149 kills, 53 blocks and a .355 attack percentage.

Next up for Adams and the Paladins is a trip to Cullowhee, N.C., to face Western Carolina on October 7. Furman returns home on October 9 to host Elon.

Also nominated this week were College of Charleston's Jennifer Darty, The Citadel's Tatum Jestila, Elon's Caroline Lemke, Georgia Southern's Lauren Claybaugh, UNC Greensboro's Billi Baker, Samford's Sheriden Stangohr and Chattanooga's Courtney Barnes.
