SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Wofford men's soccer team picked up a 4-1 win over Georgia Southern Wednesday afternoon at Eagle Field in Statesboro, Georgia. The Terriers currently sit in first place in the Southern Conference standings with 10 points.

The Terriers improve to 7-1-3 overall and 3-0-1 in Southern Conference play will the Eagles fall to 0-12-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the Southern Conference.

Wofford broke out with an early lead during the first half with two goals to Georgia Southern's one. After a corner kick by Wofford's Branson Hyatt at 12:46, an own goal was scored at 12:57 by Georgia Southern giving Wofford the lead. At 19:31, after a shot by Georgia Southern's Danny Hall that went high, the Terrier's Armin Kinigadner returned to score in a shot that went under goalie Mike Gubosh. The Eagle's Jon Cox took a shot at 24:32 that was saved by goalie Thomas Hunter only to be rebounded back to the Eagle's Witt Carlisle to score the one and only goal for Georgia Southern.

At the start of the second half, within five minutes Wofford took three corner kicks by Branson Hyatt, Yakov Rubinchik, and Andrew Eppelsheimer respectively. It wasn't until 62:29 in the game that Wofford's Wilson Hood would score with an assist by Scott Redding. No less than ten minutes later Hood scored again, his third goal of the season, also assisted by Scott Redding to secure a 4-1 victory. A late shot at 87:39 by the Eagle's Jon Cox was blocked.

With the win, Wofford has set a new school mark for SoCon wins in a season with three.

Wofford had a 10 to six lead on shots and a five to three lead on corner kicks. Wofford's Thomas Hunter had one save while Georgia Southern's Mike Gobush had two.
