SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Nineteen Southern Conference men's and women's basketball teams will be in action November 13 to open the 2009-10 season.  UNC Greensboro visits Duke as one of nine men's games on the schedule for opening night while College of Charleston travels to face North Carolina in one of the ten women's games.  The league's complete composite schedule is now available and will conclude with the 2010 Southern Conference Tournament in Charlotte, N.C. March 4-8.

            Southern Conference teams are scheduled to make at least 10 appearances on national television during the season, including the 2010 Southern Conference men's tournament final, which is slated for a 9:00 p.m. tip on ESPN2 March 8.  Additional appearances may be televised as part of the 2010 ESPN BracketBusters and other exempt tournaments.  Four SoCon men's teams (Appalachian State, College of Charleston, Elon and Western Carolina) are scheduled to participate in the annual event slated for February 19-20 on ESPN2 and ESPNU.  League teams will make an additional 51 appearances on regional television including Fox Sports South, SportSouth and Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast.

            Monday, November 30 marks the start of conference play as Davidson visits Furman and Chattanooga, last year's regular season champion, travels to take on Samford in women's competition.  The men's teams open league play December 2 when Wofford visits Western Carolina.  The 2009-10 season marks a change in men's competition as league teams will play 18 conference games as opposed to 20 conference games that were played each of the past two seasons.

All 23 men's and women's teams will take part in the annual conference tournament.  Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte will serve as host the first three days, March 4-6, while the semifinals and finals will be held at Time Warner Arena, home of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats.
