Paladins' McGoogan Selected Runner of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Charles McGoogan, a junior at Furman, has been honored as the Southern Conference Men's Runner of the Week for his performance at the Furman Invitational Saturday, as announced by the league office Wednesday. It is the third time in five weeks McGoogan has earned the weekly award.

The communications major from Charlotte, N.C., placed second overall at the Furman Invitational. His time of 26:42.11 on the 8K course led the Paladin men to a second place finish.

The South Carolina Intercollegiate Meet was held in conjunction with the Furman Invitational Saturday. Using his time from the Furman Invitational, McGoogan placed first overall and led the Paladins men's team to a first-place finish among all South Carolina schools.

Next up for McGoogan and the Paladins is the Winthrop/Asics Fall Classic on Saturday in Rock Hill, S.C. This will be the final meet for Furman before it travels to the Southern Conference Cross Country Championships on October 31 in Elon, N.C.
