SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga 174-lb. wrestler Jason McCroskey has been named this week’s Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all matches Jan. 21-27, the conference office announced Wednesday. The voting is done by the league’s wrestling head coaches.

McCroskey ended the week with a perfect 2-0 mark after defeating two SoCon opponents as the Mocs continued their 22-match SoCon winning streak with victories over Appalachian State and UNC Greensboro.

The freshman recorded a 16-7 win over the Mountaineers’ Antionne Jones, before moving up to the 184-lb. weight class against the Spartans and pinning Mikal McKee. The Chattanooga native is now 16-6 on the season, including a 3-0 mark in SoCon matches.

Also nominated for this week’s award were UNC Greensboro’s Mitchell Johnson, VMI’s Josh Wine, Appalachian State’s David Pritz and Davidson’s Tyler Mullen.
