SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Davidson’s Stephen Curry has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for all games January 20-26 the league office announced Tuesday (Jan. 27).  Curry helped the Wildcats earn South Division wins over Furman (83-43) and Wofford (79-56) last week.  He averaged 31.5 points, 6.0 assists and connected on 63 percent of his field goal attempts.  It is the sixth time this season he has won the award, setting a new single-season record since the award was created in 1968.  The player of the week is selected by a vote of the league’s basketball sports information directors.

Curry scored a game-high 30 points in Davidson’s victory over Furman and tallied 33 against Wofford, marking the 25th time in his career he has scored at least 30 points.  He has scored at least 30 points 10 times this season, one off the school record of 11 he set in 2007-08.  Curry leads the nation with 29.3 points per game.  He also leads the league in assists (6.4 apg) and steals (2.9 spg).  Curry has moved into 21st place on the NCAA’s Division I career made three-pointers list (358).

Davidson (16-3, 9-0 SoCon) visits Chattanooga (9-11, 5-4 SoCon) Wednesday night.  Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m.
