Johnson Takes Home Third Student-Athlete of the Week Scroll

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Western Carolina women's basketball player Brooke Johnson has been tabbed this week's Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for all sporting events from Jan. 14-20, the conference office announced Wednesday. 

 

Johnson, a senior, sports a 3.90 GPA in criminal justice and has now won the award three times this season.

 

Last week, Johnson averaged a double-double as she scored 13 points and grabbed 10.9 rebounds per game in the Catamounts’ two SoCon wins against UNC Greensboro and Elon.

 

Against the Spartans, the 6-4 center had 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. In the contest against the Phoenix, Johnson scored 11 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, while moving into second place on WCU’s all-time blocked shots list.

 

Also nominated for this week’s award were UNC Greensboro women’s basketball player Monique Floyd and Samford women’s basketball player Chika Okoli.
