Coleton Henning Named Men?s Soccer Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Freshman Coleton Henning of Furman has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 30.  Henning tallied three goals and an assist in three games last week as the Paladins went 3-0, including a 2-1 win over No. 19 South Carolina.

 

Henning scored Furman’s first goal and assisted on the Paladins’ second marker in a 2-1 win over Lipscomb on Friday (Sept. 26).  The freshman forward then scored twice in Sunday’s match against Belmont.  Henning staked Furman to 1-0 lead in the sixth minute before netting the game-winning goal in the 66th minute of play.  The Shawnee, Kan., native is second in the Southern Conference in points (10) and points per game (1.00).  He is also tied for second in the league with four goals on the season.  Furman returns to action Saturday (Oct. 4) when the Paladins host UNC Greensboro at 7:00 p.m.

 

Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s Collin Taylor, College of Charleston’s Kareem Yearwood, Elon’s Justin Wyatt, and Georgia Southern’s Fredrik Langseth.
