SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Caitlin Williams of Western Carolina has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 30.  Williams helped the Catamounts earn two wins in league play last week, posting victories over The Citadel (6-0) and College of Charleston (1-0).

Williams started both games in goal last week, making nine saves against College of Charleston to earn the shutout victory.  She played just over half of WCU’s win over The Citadel and made one save.  The Liberty, S.C., native has helped the Catamounts win three consecutive shutout wins.  Williams is fifth in the league in save percentage (.820) and ninth in saves per game (4.56).  Her three shutout wins are tied for second in the league.

Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s Casey Cleary, College of Charleston’s Katie Browne, Davidson’s Lauren Conner, Furman’s Rachel Fry, Georgia Southern’s Ashley Toussaint, Samford’s Cayley Winters, UNC Greensboro’s Jen Rincon and Wofford’s Rachel Blackburn.
