SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Appalachian State redshirt senior Meg Gaffney has been selected by the Southern Conference coaches as this week’s SoCon Women’s Runner of the Week for the meets that occurred last weekend, as announced by the league office today.

Gaffney, a graduate student studying special education, finished seventh in the Covered Bridge Open 5K race in a time of 19:00. She helped the Mountaineers to a second-place finish, trailing only Florida State.

Also nominated for this week’s award was Western Carolina junior Lindsey Groce, who won the two-mile race at the Western Carolina Open in a time of 11:56. The SoCon All-Academic team honoree helped her team to a first-place finish at the meet.
