SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chad Janda of UNC Greensboro has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of September 23.  Janda made saves within the last 30 seconds of each match to preserve one-goal wins for the Spartans.  Janda came up with a stop from point blank range against Campbell to preserve a 2-1 win before punching the ball over the crossbar with eight seconds left to secure a 1-0 win over UNC Wilmington. 

Janda made a combined six saves in two games last week, earning a 0.67 goals against average.  The only goal he allowed last week came on a penalty kick.  Janda is fourth in the league in goals against average (1.43) and save percentage (.706).  He is one of seven goalkeepers in the Southern Conference to have at least one shutout.

Other top performers this week were Appalachian State’s Arie Muniz, Davidson’s Alex Caskey, Elon’s Justin Wyatt, Furman’s Coleton Henning and Wofford’s Wilson Hood.
