SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? UNC Greensboro goalkeeper Kelsey Kearney has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week as voted on by the conference sports information directors, the conference announced Tuesday.

Kearney, a freshman from Durham, N.C., stopped five shots and recorded her first career shutout in the Spartans 1-0 victory over No. 15 Santa Clara on Friday. In the Spartans’ 2-0 loss to No. 3 Stanford on Sunday, she recorded eight saves in the second half to keep the Cardinal off the board.

Also nominated for this week’s award were Appalachian State’s Carolina Lowe, College of Charleston’s Megan Manthey, Elon’s Susannah Gianakos, Furman’s Jessica Smith, Western Carolina’s Nikki Collins and Wofford’s Nikki Siebert.
