SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? College of Charleston senior forward Matt Morris has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week as voted on by the conference sports information directors, the conference office announced Tuesday.

The Anderson, S.C., native was named the MVP of the Aaron Olitsky/Nike Soccer Classic after scoring three goals in two games to help the Cougars defeat No. 10 Ohio State, 2-1, on Friday and No. 18 Brown, 3-1, on Sunday. In the victory over Brown, Morris scored twice, including the game winner.

Also nominated for the award this week was Appalachian State’s Arie Muniz, Davidson’s Alex Caskey, Elon’s Justin Wyatt, UNC Greensboro’s Chad Dickerson and Wofford’s Joey Taylor.
