SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Furman cross country runner and tennis player Lauren Tomory has earned her second award of the week, as she has been named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of September 3-9, the conference announced Wednesday.

Tomory, a senior, has a 4.0 GPA and majors in business administration.

A native of Vicenza, Italy, Tomory finished second in the Eye Opener Invitational on Saturday by finishing the 5K course in 18:27. The race was her first as a member of the Paladin cross country team as she is also a three-year letterwinner on the Furman tennis team. 

Also nominated for this week’s award was Western Carolina women’s soccer player Shannon Fowkes, Appalachian State men’s soccer player J.T. LaBruyere, Wofford football player Mitch Allen, Samford football player Richie Fordham and UNC Greensboro volleyball player Branagan Fuller.
