ELON, N.C. ? The College Sporting News announced that Elon junior return specialist and cornerback Karlos Sullivan (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann Academy) was elected its National Special Teams Player of the Week Tuesday morning.

Sullivan amassed a career-high 130 return yards ? 106 on five punt returns and 24 on a kickoff return ? to go with his interception despite playing in a torrential downpour, courtesy of Tropical Storm Hanna in the Phoenix’s 30-20 victory over Stony Brook Saturday afternoon at LaValle Stadium. He averaged 21.2 yards per punt return, powered by a career-long 81-yard return for a touchdown.

Crowned the Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week as well on Monday afternoon, Sullivan currently ranks second in the Southern Conference and ninth in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Division with 17.1 yards per punt return.

Sullivan and the rest of the Phoenix will return home to the friendly confines of Rhodes Stadium, where Elon has emerged victorious in five of its last seven games, to welcome Presbyterian (1-1) at 6 p.m. Saturday for the Phoenix's annual Hall of Fame/Lettermen's Day Game.
