BOONE, N.C.- Appalachian State softball third baseman Andrea McIntyre has been chosen to play against the USA National softball team in the 2008 Bound for Beijing USA Softball tour game. McIntyre was invited to play for the ASA regional all-stars, a team comprised of standout-collegiate players from the state of Virginia.

The game will be held in Salem, Va. at Salem Kiwanis Field on July 24 at 7 p.m. Virginia Tech head softball coach, Scot Thomas will be coaching the team, and will be assisted by Virginia Tech assistant coach Al Brauns and Steve Warner, who is the West Virginia Wesleyan head coach. 

McIntyre, a rising senior finished the 2008 season for the Mountaineers with a .228 batting average, while starting in and playing all 48 games for ASU. She scored 11 runs, notched one home run and had 13 RBIs. 

The USA National team will make one final stop in Irvine, Calif., before heading to Beijing, China to compete in the 2008 Olympics.
