ASU Women's Basketball Completes Recruiting Class

BOONE, N.C.  - Head coach Darcie Vincent added Charmene Means (Atlanta, Ga./Mays H.S.) and Sad? Means (Atlanta, Ga./Mays H.S.) to complete the Appalachian State University women's basketball roster for the 2008-09 season. The twins join four other newcomers for the fall campaign.

Sad? Means, a 5-9 guard, was named all-state and all-city at Mays High School under head coach Oliver Banks as a senior in 2007-08. She earned offensive team MVP honors, was a McDonalds All-America nominee and Atlanta Tip-Off Club member, while averaging 16.5 points and 4 rebounds per game.

Charmene Means started four years at Mays High School and was also named to the all-city team. She was an all-state and McDonalds all-America nominee, averaging 14 points per game last year. She stands 5-10 and plays the guard and forward positions.

Both twins plan on majoring in communication-broadcasting and help bolster a recruiting class that was already ranked first in the conference and 106th in the nation by the All-Star Girls Basketball Report. Canesha Edwards, Haley Hackett, Anya Knower and Catherine Williams will also compete for playing time in the fall.

The Mountaineers open the season at home on November 14 with former conference rival Marshall.
