Women's Golf Southern Conference

Kirchmayr Named Honorable Mention All-American by Golfweek

Charleston, S.C. ? College of Charleston women’s golfer Steffi Kirchmayr was named Honorable Mention All-American by Golfweek for her success on the golf course this season.

"Steffi had the best spring in the history of the College of Charleston,” said Head CofC Women’s Golf Coach Jamie Futrell.  “The hard work she has put in on her game has paid off.  She is very deserving of this award.  It is a good feeling as a coach to know that I have a player of that caliber returning for the College of Charleston next year."

Kirchmayr, a junior from Pocking, Germany, led the Cougars to five top 10 finishes this season, including a win at the Cuthbert Cup and a fourth at the Southern Conference Tournament.  She led the team in stroke average with a 74.18 and was second in the league.  She placed in the top five in seven tournaments this past season, including a tie for first at the Cuthbert Cup and win at the Pinehurst Challenge, which included a season-low 69 in the third round.

The two-time Southern Conference Player-of-the-Year tied for second at the Canes and Cardinal Classic earlier this season and tied for third at the Bryan Park Intercollegiate and the SoCon Tournament.  The only two players to place ahead of her at the Bryan Park Intercollegiate were the number one and number two ranked players in the country.

Kirchmayr recently competed at the NCAA Women’s Golf Central Regional Tournament and finished 13th, just four strokes from the cut to make the National Championship.
