25th Anniversary Spotlight - Rachael Stern

The 2007-08 academic year marks the 25th anniversary of women’s championships in the Southern Conference, and to celebrate the occasion, the Southern Conference is spotlighting individuals who have been named to the league’s 25th Anniversary teams.

Rachael Stern

 

 

Rachael Stern (2001-2005) of College of Charleston had a tremendous career as a pitcher for the College of Charleston softball team.  Stern helped the Cougars to a 53-18 record in 2005 along with a Southern Conference Championship and a second place finish in the Knoxville Regional.  Stern earned first team All-Southern Conference and Tournament MVP honors in 2005.  She was also named to the NFCA Southeastern All-Region team. Stern posted a record of 32-11 with a 2.35 earned run average.

 

In 2004, Stern compiled a record of 22-10 and was named to the Second Team All-Southern Conference and the All-Tournament Team.

 

Stern had a break out year in 2003 when she was tabbed the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year.  Stern compiled a record of 26-5 with a earned run average of 1.00.  Stern earned First Team All-Southern Conference and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

 

Stern holds numerous College of Charleston career records, including wins (80), strikeouts (462), saves (6), shutouts (25) and innings pitched (697.2).

Wilma Simpson (2000-03), Basketball ? First Team All-SoCon in ’01 and ’03; ’00 Freshmen of the Year

Kaycie Carr (2002-05), Volleyball ?Two-Time All-Tournament Team; Two-time First team All-Socon; 2005 SoCon Player of the Year; three time SoCon Champion and three time NCAA participant; school record 13.84 assists per game in ?03  

Claire Wigfall (2001-04), Soccer ? two-time second team All-SoCon member in 2001 and 2003

Chakosha Lance (2003-06), Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field ? Holds the SoCon Record in the hammer throw; two-time NCAA participant; Two-time NCAA Division I track and field Academic All-America; first Charleston athlete to win a individual title in the outdoor and indoor championships in 2004

Angie Hill (2003-06), Golf ?2006 SoCon Individual Champion; 2006 Player of the Year; 2006 first team All-SoCon

Stephanie Feagin (1999-02), Cross Country ? All-SoCon in 2000; placed seventh in SoCon Championship with a time of 18:25.28

Rachel Magory (2002-05), Tennis ? 2004 first-team All-SoCon; 2004 TIAA-CREF SoCon Academic All-Conference; 2003 SoCon Tournament MVP
